The Adopt a Highway program offers both non-profit and for-profit organizations opportunities to contribute to their community and province. This program is aimed at promoting community pride and a means of publicly recognizing the organization’s efforts. Specifically, the opportunity is for organizations to “adopt” a section of provincial highway to help carry out or sponsor such activities as landscape beautification, litter pickup, weeding and invasive plant spotting and reporting. Hand-pulling of non-toxic plants is optional.

The Pacific Coast Blue Knights, Victoria, BC, Chapter VIII has adopted the section of the Trans Canada Highway that lays between Spencer Road and Sooke Lake Road, which is a distance of approximately 2 Klms in length. Our first clean up filled the box of a full size pickup. We expect to conduct 4 clean ups per year.

2011 Ride to Live

BC VIII kicked off the riding season with a ride to beautiful Port Renfrew. Though there were a few issues with the highway, a great time was had by all.

Our monthly meeting at the Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa, great turn our...

BC VIII recently went for an afternoon ride followed by a barbecue at Ike's (thank you so much). Thanks also to Luc for all the burgers!

A number of our members attended the "Ride to Live" on June 6th, 2010 to help out where needed and attempt to recruit more members. Below are a few photos:

Two of our Chapter members, Ron and Phil, took a week off work and headed South: into California and Nevada. Seems Ron forgot his rain suit and about 80% of their trip was in the rain. You know what they say, "A bad day on the road is better than a good day in the office". Here are a few of the sunnier moments...

Brian's Coast to Coast ride in July 2010 took him past the Blue Knights International Headquarters in Bangor Maine.
